    This I Promise You

    First and foremost,

    HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY AMOS!!!

    P.S 要写到很大才行!

Hmmm...We are seventeen already. It kind of speaks volumes doesn't it? About future routes, about paths and the crossroads of our lives. Is this one?

I saw an article in The Straits Times about an NTU study suggesting that people who enjoyed the company of friends and family attained happiness more easily than those who indulged in material wants, while pressure from academic work makes it an even more uphill task. To a certain extent, this is true. But I am very, very fortunate to have the best of all worlds. 161108 has been a really, truly memorable day for me. Only because of the people who make it possible.

Number One: My family- Mummy, Daddy and Didi
My life revolves around them and every breath I take, I do it for them. Seriously. Without them, I could never have been the Bryan Tan that everyone knows today. (Of course, some think I'm spoilt.) I feel that my family has really pampered me and showered me with lots and lots of love, and I will use my whole life to reciprocate. Hahax :) This year, Mummy and Daddy, thanks for the iPhone and allowing me to celebrate pretty extensively! To Didi, thanks for the card and allowing me to use your line to buy the iPhone! I love you!

    Number Two: Doria
A very, very, super-duper nice girl by the name of Doria was the first friend to wish me this year at 0000 sharp. Hahax that's why you're number 2 on the list :) Even though you kept mixing up 16 and 19, I was really touched that you had the sincerity. Thank you so much, Doria!! You're always so sincere to the people around you, the care that you show everyone ever evident. I believe I have learnt quite a fair bit from you as well. You're one friend I will never forget!!

    Number Three: Amos
Sorry 兄弟 that you are number three here...Hahahax:) How can I ever say enough about you? 5 years and going, you are the BEST friend I have had all my life. Okie...don't worry that you have to crack your brains because I didn't get you any presents like you asked me to. Sorry, but 如果你明年要喝 Carlsberg 的话,你可要自己喝了! Hahax what 好友满天下??有你们就够了啦!! Don't worry I will 'jio' you out more often, rather than annually. But I won't dare to ask you to stay over at my house anymore. My brother and you can literally bring the house down liaox. HAHAHAX :)

And all other friends and family members, you made my day too!! So, a really big thank you!!
Most people will not recognise the place, but it's actually my favourite chicken rice stall in Singapore. I think the chicken rice there is the best, even though it isn't the 'authentic' stall. But even so, who cares about 'authenticity' when you've tasted heaven? When it comes to chicken rice, I'm very particular about three things. Firstly, the rice must have the strong fragrance of chicken stock, but shouldn't be too soft. Secondly, the chilli must not have too much garlic, should not be overpowered by the sourness and for me, not to spicy. It spoils the balance. Thirdly, the chicken should be juciy and tender, but not too oily.

This stall is actually located at the Margaret Drive Food Centre in Queenstown. It's pretty hard to get there without a car as I'm not familiar with that area. My uncle used to own a drinks stall beside Sin Kee ( that's what the chicken rice stall is called), so we had 'priority' on my birthday. Hahax the auntie still recognised us and dinner was served in a jiffy. But hey hey, you have to be there before 7pm on weekends (there's a church nearby and lots of people go there for dinner), and approximately 7.30pm on weekdays if not the trip would be futile. Even so, there's western food and char kway teow on the first floor, while there's claypot rice and 'guo tie' on the second floor of the food centre, so there's basically not much to worry.
The cake was from Four Leaves because I got sick and tired of Prima Deli. Mummy asked if I wanted to try something special this year, rather than these stores, but I was too lazy to look for another cake, so I settled for this Chocolate Classico. My presents are beside me, but I didn't take a close-up shot of them.
Funny how it seems, but I'm not really anxious about my Tokyo trip. Shi Wei's already in China enjoying himself, before returning for 8 days and jetting off to Japan again! Hahax Doria will also be going to Tokyo from 12th December to 16th December! It will be really really cool and so out of this world if we actually see each other on the streets of Tokyo!!!!!!! Hahax lol she seems very excited about the trip and seeing snow on Mount Fuji. But it won't snow when you are on the streets cos winter's only in late December to early February in Japan. And it's going to be so cold, away from the heat of Singapore. That's more than enough. Seeing snow would be a bonus to me. It will probably occur when we go skiing :) I have yet to get an outercoat/jacket, even though I have bought a sweater and gloves for myself. Most likely, I will be getting mine from Abercrombie and Fitch, asking uncle Kenneth and Aunty Nurani to get it from L.A. These are a few that I like:

They cost about USD$140, but I would want to go out and look around before making a decision. One thing's for sure, I don't really like those big, fluffy jackets. So I would try to look for one that's not too humungous.

That's all for now, so adieu...

And when I look in your eyes, all of my life fills before me

And I not running anymore cos I already know I'm home

With every beat of my heart, I give you my love, completely

My Darling, This I Promise You...
