With you I feel I can touch the sky, but I don't have to climb that high

It's been 2 days since I've been back from Japan already. Funny thing is, I guess I don't miss it as much as I did Fukuoka when I came back. Okie, I really miss the weather!! It' soooooooo comfortable!! (I'm serious, Doria, that a long sleeve shirt and a jacket was all I need! Perhaps Shi Wei is fatter, so he only needs a T-shirt! Hahax :) Sorry Shi Wei!)

However, Tokyo has really been an eye-opener. Not because of all the hype it has received (which has been largely played down in this trip) but rather, the closely interwoven mix of the modern, cosmopolitan city and the rustic heritage Tokyo possessed. I suppose that's probably due to the architecture and urban layout of Tokyo, how new, shiny and silvery buildings spring out amongst the old, worn-out shophouses.

But the thing that left me with the deepest impression was the immaculate hospitality of my hosts. I couldn't ski because the boots were too high-cut for me, and it hurt really badly when I tried to perform all sorts of movement with it. Nonetheless, Tanaka-san and Hoshino-san took pains to get me a bigger-sized boot in the hope that I would be more relaxed, but to no avail. They took it to heart to ensure that I would enjoy my stay, so when I couldn't ski, Tanaka-san allowed me to return to the seminar house to rest. He also allowed me to use the common computer in the lobby. (I chatted with mum and bro while updating my blog!) When I was about to leave for Singapore, Tanaka-san gave me a dama-ru which he bought from the Zenkoji Temple. It's actually an egg-shaped doll that's meant to give me good luck for my studies. It was a very heartwarming gesture and I reciprocated by thanking him with a letter and some gifts.

That's all for now. I will update about the trip in detail some other day.

    Ciao.
